The artworks bring together the proximity of parklands, visible from the upper levels and the urban experience at street level.

"Close to Civic Square a chain of wetlands once drained east into Claisebrook Inlet. As the city developed these areas became market gardens, parks and residential areas. This can still be seen in the green spaces that extend west to east towards the Swan River. Over time these parklands became the public domain, 'civic places' based on nature and ringed by trees.

The central image in the artworks is of a single leaf taken from the nearby park. The simple form is folded and stretched into sculptural elements that provide a focus within the foyer. On the foyer walls the leaf's vein pattern is fragmented and layered to provide a continuous experience that links the foyer to the street beyond."
